Zurkhwood
Deep in the caverns of Eleusis, the natives have cultivated a species of fungus with characteristics suitable for building materials.

Anatomy
Zurkhwood grows in tree like stems. These mushrooms can grow to between 9 and 12m in height, provided the cavern is sufficient to accomodate it. The stems are hard and hardy, rivaling the strongest terrestrial trees.

Uses, Products & Exploitation
The tree-like fungus serves as the primary building material in the first two levels of the Eleusis caverns. Relied on by the Lizardfolk and the Kobolds, as well as many other species. The "wood" harvested from these trees can be sanded and has a tremendous tensile strength, and a flexural strength sufficient for crafting vehicles and housing. It is reasonable ammenable to abrasion and can be sanded to a smooth surface using the right ground crystals. It is considered a precious shared resources amongst the many species of Eleusis resource.
The spores of the fungus are as large grains of wheat. A particular harvest of spores can lead to between 2-4kg of grain. The lizardfolk have been known to bake the spores as a hearty whole grain bread.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
The Zurkhwood are known only in the Eleusis caverns. While there the ecosystem is not unique, they have yet to be discovered or transplanted to other cavern systems.
