{"name":"Ashenfolk","overview":"[p]The @[Ashenfolk](species:ba1f99e9-fff5-43d8-a184-2d5de9db6d86) are a variant of @[Dwarves](species:fdffb1e3-a8b4-4a29-8620-d6fd9b7a38b4) that dwell in @[The Ashlands](article:3685bc62-5fd7-47d5-a812-ca263387701d) region on an island off of the mainland of @[Reshyk](location:2c77039f-2728-4708-8cb9-3ccd532e930a). They were once Dwarves just like the mainlanders, but after the @[Drakantal Empire](organization:c94575dd-80ae-48a2-a238-b8c9e153087c) in @[Arak](location:4a13f30c-bf8f-4403-9d65-f884b817fa94) was destroyed in the @[Age of Creation](article:5e1c69f3-285e-4d80-850e-205f6950a285) by the @[Voidspawn](species:4ea1c2be-2949-44c3-9c22-50a8568d61f4), they fled back to their homeland. However, the [i]Voidspawn[\/i] partially devoured the very souls of these Dwarves, feeding on the @[Flow](law:868f7a29-22ba-4032-9df8-72c2135df2e3) within their bodies. [\/p]\r\n[p]This resulted in their pale, ghost-like appearance and pale red eyes. This also robbed the [i]Ashenfolk[\/i] of strong emotion, leaving them stoic and monotone. Unfortunately, their appearance frightened the mainland Dwarves, and they believed them to be revenants, vengeful spirits, and fought them, driving them out of the mainland. The [i]Ashenfolk[\/i], not wanting to return to [i]Arak[\/i], went to an island off the coast and made their home in the cave systems beneath the [i]Basalt Peaks[\/i], where they made their underground cities.[\/p]\r\n[p]The [i]Ashenfolk[\/i] invented the magical discipline known as [i]Runescribing[\/i]. All [i]Ashenfolk[\/i] have the ability to use the [i]Travel[\/i] rune, allowing them to teleport to a previously inscribed rune within range.[\/p]\r\n[p]The Ashenfolk inherit the domain of [i]Motion[\/i].[\/p]","image_id":"","ability_score_increase":"Your Intelligence score increases by 1.","age":"","alignment":"","size":"Medium","speed":"","languages":"","parent_race":"1377060","sub_races":"","race_features":"[h2]Wayfarer[\/h2]\r\n[p]Your people's discovery of [i]Runescribing[\/i] has made it common practice.
