I used to have a normal quiet life after being a hunter with the Sketon Striders, I lived away from civilisation only going into the city when i need additional supplies or to sell my catch of the day. I spent my life hunting, fishing and for that reason I bonded with the wildlife around me. My life was simple and full of love from my wife and daughter then one day it all changed I was out by the river cleaning off my hunting gear that's when I caught the smell of blood and smoke being carried by the wind I turned my head to see smoking emerging from the direction of my home.\r\n\r\nwhen I arrived it was already too late my wife lay dead slashes to her neck and torso spread across the grass but not my daughter. so I called for her but no response I struggled into the wreckage of my home but she wasn't there either. I was left distort knelling down tears in my eyes, holding onto my wife. I let out a scream of sorrow and anger, the scream however was cut short as I collapse backwards on the ground. id been hit straight through the front by an arrow. I lay on the ground in agony and confusion as to why this was happening to me and my family. my eyes darted scouring the nearby area to see where the arrow had come from. as my life drained away from my body and my sight darken I saw the figure on the hillside, a dark figure draped in a long hooded cloak atop a horse he sat with my daughter hung over the back of it. then nothing my life had ended or so I thought.\r\n\r\nI awoken not sure how long later but it must of been sometime the sun had set and the fire from the house had censed. to my surprise i was alive but there was something majorly different about me I had grey ashed skin and a burning sensation in my mind of hatred and vengeance also my wife body hadn't been eaten by nearby wildlife in fact there was a scrawny wolf lay next to her, when I approached and yell at the 'threat' of the wolf, it didn't flinch at all it instead let out a howl and ran off towards the tree line.\r\n\r\nI buried my wife under a tree we used to sit under then headed the direction where the pain in my head burned like a fire. When its adversary dies, or if the revenant fails to kill its adversary before its time runs out, it crumbles to dust and its soul fades into the afterlife.\r\n\r\nAlignment - For souls with such a strong will to defy death itself that they crawl their way back into life. When deciding the alignment for your revenant consider how their death would have affected their previous alignment. Did an otherwise lawful character become mad with revenge becoming chaotic? Or maybe their chaotic natural was neutralized in their death and they become humbled. Was the crawl out of the afterlife hard or did it come easy? These are both things that should be considered when playing a character whose death affected them in such a literal way. Generally, characters will shift towards a chaotic alignment once they become revenants.\r\n\r\nSize - You have the same size as your Mortal Form.\r\nSpeed - You have the same speed as your Mortal Form.\r\nMortal Form - You have the same ability modifiers, size and speed as the current body your soul inhabits. For example, if the body you choose to inhabit is a mountain dwarf, you have a +2 to your Strength score, a +2 to your Constitution score, be considered a medium sized creature and have a base walking speed of 25 feet. If you inhabit the body of a human, you would instead have a +1 to all of your ability scores, be considered a medium sized creature and have a base walking speed of 30 feet. Etc.\r\n\r\nUndead - Raised from the dead as a being of undeath, you count as an undead creature for all spells and abilities that affect the undead. You do not need to eat or breathe, but you can ingest food and drink if you wish. Instead of sleeping, you enter an inactive state for 4 hours each day. You do not dream in this state; you are fully aware of your surroundings and notice approaching enemies and other events as normal.\r\nAdversary. As a revenant, you have a being or several you must seek vengeance upon. Determine together with your DM which being\/s were marked as your adversary. You always know the direction and distance between you and adversary\/s, even they are on a different plane of existence. If your adversary dies, you know.\r\n\r\nDark vision - You have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can\u2019t discern colour in darkness, only shades of grey.\r\nPoison Resilience - You have advantage on saving throws against poisoned, you have resistance against poison damage.\r\nRelic of the Past - You retain one racial trait of your choice from your current body's race.\r\nLanguages - You know the languages you knew in life.
