In their natural form, steel dragons were especially feline in their movements and stature. As adults, their scales shone like burnished steel and they usually smelled like wet metal. The scales of younger dragons were a darker blue-grey and less lustrous. Their wings consisted of overlapping blades that resembled feathers, and the scales on their chests resembled shields. Their faces were highly expressive and sometimes appeared human-like. They had many long spines around their faces that gave them the appearance of having hair. Steel dragons in humanoid form usually kept their true identities secret. However, they always had at least one visual indication of their true nature, such as steel-grey hair, eyes or tattoos.
