GENERIC VARIANT UNKNOWN RARITY
Extra parchments of paper found inside an old tome titled 'The Magic of Gemstones'. The tome itself was found in the crumbling tower just outside Bogbrook.
The text on the parchment is handwritten in Gnomish scribbles. The paper is signed at the bottom, 'Corben Copperspring', and dated 1084 DR.
King Rowan of Cormyr recently acquired three rare gemstones from Kara-Turan diplomats. His Majesty, in exchange for funding my own research, sent samples of each and requested I study them for untapped magical properties.
(There is a sketch of a clear, yellow gemstone cut into a round shape)
School: Transmutation/Evocation?
Highly stable, able to convert and store large amounts of raw energy. With a little work, could be used as a power source for many applications. Has been successfully charged with fire, lightning, and wind energy. Other charging methods to be researched.
I've requested more 'samples' from the King for study, but shouldn't be too greedy about it. No matter how tempting it is to power the entire tower with them. I'll have to move the stones about as needed until I secure my own Kara-Tur trade routes. Note: Reach out to Renan Guldar.
DANGER: If damaged, the stored energy will be violently released.
(There is a sketch of a cluster of white, cloudy crystals in groups of six-sided prisms)
School: Abjuration
Strong healing properties? Not healing, warding. Unable to use them for amplifying healing spells, but animals and people within its area of influence walk off fatal injuries as if they're nothing. Larger samples protect a larger area.
(There is a sketch of a octagonal-cut gemstone, shimmering in mixed shades of red and blue)
School: Necromancy.
Not safe for further studies. Healed subjects at first when in direct contact, and gave them outstanding durability, but removing the gem caused the subject to immediately wither and die. No safe utilization found.
Advising the King to return all amethysts to Kara-Tur, and to not touch them directly.
