"Hooboy! Look't 'em run!"

"You're awful."

"I'd much prefer'ta think I'm jus' helpin' 'em stay in shape!"

"Whatever, Kichlu. You're a rascal, chasing them off into the desert," Sedric muttered, ignoring the hyped yips of the Wild Dog. Sometimes, he was just a touch too much, but Sedric…couldn't ever seem to lose him. Not for long, at least. The wild dog was keen on keeping on his hooves. A bastard, really. As his head lowered down, his eyes flickered up towards the few trees around them; grasses swaying with the gentle breeze. It was peaceful, he'd admit, now that the chattering impala were gone.

Cool water washed down his throat as he slurped it in, brown eyes closing with relief. The refreshment was so needed. The dry air that had been scratching at his throat recently had been awful, and he knew his Bhai was in no better condition. Droplets fell from his lips as his head raised, gaze curiously peeking over at the seal bay that had settled under a tree's shade.

"Sirros, come get a drink," he chided softly, watching the seal's head lift. He was given a scowl, and an eye roll…but the seal bay crawled to his hooves. His movements were lax as he sauntered to the water, gentle splashes following the movements of his hooves and legs as he made his way into it.

"Sedric, why is that fucking Wild dog back?" he asked as he closed the space, shoulder bumping against Sedric's. The blood bay stallion laughed softly, brown eyes sliding towards the scampering wild dog that seemed so keen on scaring the shit out of everything he could.

"I told you I can't seem to lose him," he responded, glancing down at his Bhai's lowered head, "Besides, isn't it nicer without all the impalas yapping away?"

"In their place, we've got wild dog yips and cries," Sirros muttered, water drops dribbling from his mouth, "Preferred the impala. At least they knew how to have a real conversation."

Sedric broke into a bellowing laugh, a cheeky grin forming on his face, "Ha! Yeah, they certainly do. Friendly little blokes, aren't they?"

A hum of agreement came from his darker companion as he soaked in much-needed water, and Sedric's eyes turned to survey their surroundings. Kichlu was happily running through the waters, chasing away anything that he could find; laughing and yipping all of the way. His gaze was free to move on, searching the tall grasses with patience and care--until he spotted something none of them had caught.

A dark form, huddled up next to a tree…and very horse-shaped. His head cocked to the side, before a shoulder bump was given to his brother, "Hey, hey…Sirros, look at that. Am I tripping?"

"You haven't had any fermented fruit, so I fucking hope not," Sirros commented, though his head and gaze swiveled to where Sedric was directing him. There was a beat of silence, as both stallions watched what they had first assumed to be a rock shift underneath the shade. Slowly, a head formed, with a blaze of white running down the center, and the perk of ears as the horse seemed to spot them.

"What do we do?" Sirros asked, voice barely a whisper.

"We go say hi, dipshit," Sedric snickered, nipping at Sirros' shoulder. He bullied his Bhai out of the way easily, catching a stray and playful bite from the seal bay as he began to confidently strut over. His ears perked, flashing the strange horse with a wide smile, "Hey! Is everything alright over here?"

"...why wouldn't it be?" it--he--asked. Light golden eyes peered up at Sedric as he continued to close distance, surveying him up and down with a subtle wariness. The closer Sedric got, however, the more excitement he felt. A shade. He'd never seen one in the flesh before. Sirros was as close as he got, and even then…he was still ruddy, like soil after a heavy rain.

"Oh, just..don't normally see horses lounging at the time of day like this, is all," Sedric said, casting a glance back at his darker companion. Sirros was walking his way up, quiet and calm, as he peered at the new foreign stallion. Sedric's head cocked to the side once more, "I've never seen a shade, you know. Where'd you come from?"

"Clearly not from around here," the stallion responded, voice laced with a hint of play. As the bay stallions seemed to finally encroach on what he felt comfortable, he rose from the ground--far shorter than either of them had expected. Sedric couldn't help the growing grin on his face, eyes alight with a curious fire, "My name's Sedric. What's yours, friend?"
