The Great Archmage Antonidas (born 5621 TBY) was the creator of Dunamancy and the greatest leader of the Kirin Tor of Dalaran. An incredible prodigy from birth, Antonidas achieved things in his earliest years that some practitioners of magic have never achieved in their entire lifetime. His creation of Dunamancy and its temporal principles have changed Dalaran life forever, and is often called “The Father of Dalaran” for his work in ushering in a new golden age of our great city.

After only a few short years of studying under the sect, Antonidas had outclassed his peers and earned their admiration, as well as the respect of his elders. At the age of 45, Antonidas' thesis, "The Ramifications of Refined Reverse Time Travel Phenomena into Quantifiable Magical Practice", earned him the Kirin Tor Sash of Supreme Acumen, the youngest ever to receive the award. Shortly thereafter the Ruling Council offered him official placement in the Kirin Tor Advanced Research and Illumination Sect, also the youngest to receive an official invitation. Shortly thereafter with his greater influence and funding he and a small team continued their study into a magical energy he had called “Dunamis”, a magical power based on probability and potentiality. The end result of his research a mere 3 years later was a wholly new magical study, titled “Dunamancy.” With this power Antonidas could subtly control time and space itself, and he and his team began to use Dunamantic principles to enhance Dalaranian life.

As more and more of Dalaran adopted Dunamancy in both practice and principle; Antonidas found himself extremely influential in the city. He encouraged its people to think beyond themselves and their current time and status; and picture themselves as part of a larger temporal whole. The previous divisions of class and financial distinction began to crumble, and not long after this great upheaval Antonidas was elected by unanimous decision to the Kirin Tor, and was Dalaran’s first true spiritual and political steward. For over 2000 years Antonidas served dutifully as the leader of the Kirin Tor, leading Dalaran through a golden age of temporal experimentation.

By 7,859 Antonidas had found himself weary and aged from his many years of service. Still a researcher at heart, he requested his first sabbatical since becoming the leader of the Kirin Tor, and locked himself in his laboratory. A week after his sabbatical had ended nobody had still heard from Antonidas, and upon breaking into his laboratory he was nowhere to be found. Extensive searching led to the discovery of his last great book of Dunamancy; which details his final great casting. Through means we still have yet to recreate, Antonidas found a way to join his own essence with the power of Dunamis; and faded from this world into the great infinity of numbers and potentials. Antonidas left us with one final gift; the knowledge that inside the power of the magics we use to keep our city safe and strong is our greatest leader; bending time and space itself to the favor of Dalaran in his one last great act of love for our city. Antonidas always encouraged us to think beyond ourselves, and left this world as he lived; looking unblinking into the expanse of time and daring it to blink first. He will always remain with us.
