Part of my reason for using WorldAnvil was the timestamp on content to prove ownership, but I am unable to find where I can actually prove ownership outside of the site.
If I remember correctly, it was advertised as a tool that could easily perform this function. Now that I actually look for it, I cannot find it. I would like to be able to do something better than taking a screenshot of my notes on the content I am making.
It would ideally show which content and words were created on what day and time such data entered the database. Maybe it could pull from each paragraph and give the entry-date when it entered the database?
For instance, "This document had [these highlighted words] on [this date]. Then [this image] was added on [this date.]
For people who have their art stolen, this would be a fantastic way to prove that they created it.
A literal database output showing the information was stored on such date would be amazing.
With a Toggle Switch to activate "Time Stamps" from the database, you could have printable PDF's that look a lot cleaner for other use cases.
If easily printable, you could use it for TTRPG games or for any other purpose that might require printing out your notes into a physical copy.
If it could be easily put into a printable PDF, then people could print their maps, character sheets, and anything else they're doing in order to physically see it all at once without multiple monitors.
When someone needs to use the timestamps to prove they own the content, it should be instant. For an Author, that kind of thing is VERY time sensitive.
Being able to create a document from the content in WorldAnvil would also come in handy for business purposes as well. Anyone who currently wants to sell their art or creations are at a disadvantage currently. Copy and pasting is frustrating, and if you could just make a decent looking document from World Anvil then that would be really nice.
I support the idea of this. I'm not sure what level of "proof" a PDF offers because it could be doctored after the fact. I depends on how serious the proof needs to be I guess. If it came down to legal issues, (which I hope this kind of thing wouldn't, but who knows) you'd have to have some independently audited check on the database which is over and above what you'd get from a simple PDF. Even so, something relatively simple which can be presented as evidence in a lower stakes dispute might still be useful.
I'm an author and would love having something like this to help prove ownership.
While I would generally support the idea of an easy way to generate a document (as laid out on WA for convenience), I think a PDF creator is outside the scope of WA overall. I know there is a way to export the HTML of your WA page, but I grant this is the frustrating copy and paste method.
