is this a troll post? seriously? Well this is the first time I've seen mass negative votes so that's a good sign I suppose. There are a ton of map makers out there either wsiwygs or drag and drops there's absolutely no need for AI whatsoever even someone with no limbs would rather do something themselves than use AI.
1) AI demands dedicted powerful servers. Which we will have to pay for on long term. It's not just something you implement and tell what to do. It takes skill and manpower as well. 2) World Anvil has made it clear that they are not persuing to be a map making application. I'm not anti AI as some individuals here, but this I feel is out of bounds for World Anvil.
Setting aside everyone throwing a conniption over the very acronym... Any A.I. would be a massive pain to implement, especially as A.I. require extremely specific infrastructure and skillsets that WA just doesn't have. So in the name of "not spending way too much time, money, and energy on something other sites can offer just fine", let's not have WA concern themselves with A.I. of the suggested nature.
Absolutely not. Generative AI at present stage is more harmful than helpful.
You can already use any Gen AI you want to create images, maps, etc. to upload to WA, and custom map pins are already an option for Grandmasters. I'd much rather Gen AI use be something people can choose to do on their own than something built into the core of WA.
Generative AI goes very much against any semblance of fairness and respect to creators. This platform is made by and for creators. It would not only be counterproductive, but also send a very negative message about World Anvil's core values if they ever implement generative AI to the tool. The only way I see AI being implemented is to help with organisation and data parsing (e.g.: reading and article and measuring it against all other articles to find data conflicts and possible mistakes). Any other implementation of AI could be antitethical to World Anvil's morality.
Oh no, the forbidden two letter word was spoken! This won't end well... Throwing that aside for a second, you do know you can create your own map pins, right? World Anvil gives you the tools you need to do it yourself minus the image generation part (which is an absurd thing to ask for of a site that doesn't do image generation in any capacity to begin with, something that costs many millions of dollars to run and maintain...) Grandmasters and above can create map pins. If you insist on using AI, then go into Midjourney or your AI of choice and generate your own images, do the editing yourself in your image editor of choice (don't forget to shrink them down to like 64x64 pixels or so, or they'll be pretty large), import them into World Anvil as regular images, then create your own map pins using the 'Map Pins' tool in the 'Studio' section.
The forbidden acronym was pronounced. Satan was invoked. Pandora's box was opened. A group of 16 bold adventurers set to the holy quest of defeating...
WA is not a full mapmaking tool, and devs have said before the site will never have AI.
Creating maps is something you do elsewhere, and WA isn't a full mapmaking tool to begin with.
