What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

The Characters articles allow the user to describe a character in pros.  But, Characters are nearly always important because of who they are linked with.  A significant ally of the party will be able to make introductions and help them find others that have important information.  At the same time, these figures will have their own enemies list, and they become folks to watch out for.  This could be just as important in the wider world as it is in a court intrigue.  But, sometimes it isn't enough to know who is friends with who, but who is related to who.  So the third sort of person "attached" to a character are their blood relations or married relations.  Allowing the database to link to the friends, enemies and family relations of the character would be a helpful function in the character description.  

How does this feature request address the current situation?

All that is needed is a section in the description for friends, another for enemies and a third for relations.  Clicking on these names would jump to that character's description.  

What are other uses for this feature request?

Organizations, and other affiliations could be managed in a similar manner.

    I would have to agree but one thing I would add is some people have complicated relations not necessarily friends or enemys having that be just a fillable area I think would be more beneficial.

    I think relationship webs and connections are great because it allows you to make a web of people that can look like a conspiracy board.

    Relationships is already *very* robust. I don't mind adding more types of relationships to the dropdowns!

    I agree that a linking system would be useful, especially in reference to members of a guild, syndicate, or royal family beyond a (sometimes messy) 'family' tree that doesn't quite fit to every situation.

    As others have already said, this functionality already exists - there is a full section to add Relationships between characters.   This tab / section is split into relationships by blood/family and other relationships   Additionally, this area has information about "how good is the relationship" (both open and hidden attitude, attitude of A towards B and the other direction)
