What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

There is no current function inside world anvil to download a copy file of the maps you create, or the ability to print directly from world anvil.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

Adding the ability to print out a physical copy can help the Dungeon Master better keep track of information if some players are playing using paper and pencil and some are playing through their computers. We're at a moment in D&D history where there are a lot of tables that are mixed play. So having the ability to print out physical copies of everything like you can already do with your articles would be a great help.

What are other uses for this feature request?

Adding printing functionality helps make the site more accessible, especially for people that may have difficulty interfacing or affording electronics. As well as giving the ability for visually impaired players to read your maps as well with the use of braille machines for typing in location descriptions.

Follow up

I believe the Team's Response to this proposed addition is inadequate. Why prevent your users and subscribers from being able to print out their completely redesigned maps with pins and names. This feels like a "we don't want to because we just don't want to" response. With enough support I believe we can convince the development team at World Anvil that this is indeed a helpful and much desired feature by the community.   Adding print functionality and support would allow you to expand your campaigns to players that may not be able to have electronics at the gaming table. Not only that, but this is perfect for DM's that like to have physical copies and representation of their work in the case something happens to their files or World Anvil's servers. Not to mention the previously stated accessibility for people with reading and sight based disabilities.

The Team's Response

Hi! Thanks for the suggestion. However, World Anvil is exclusively a digital toolset, so printing-related features are not part of the scope of the software. Since the map features World Anvil offers are interactive and paper is not interactive in the digital sense, I recommend printing your original map image file if you need physical copies.
