Bulk-management Organisation Organization Articles- Folders Move Moving
What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
Currently, articles can only be moved one at a time. There is no multi-select or batch option. Reorganising a world
(whether correcting a misfiled article, restructuring after a campaign session, or splitting a growing category), requires opening each article individually to manually reassign its folder, or attempting precise drag-and-drop within crowded navigation trees.
This is tedious and high-risk. If you accidentally select the wrong destination folder (easy with deep hierarchies) or drop an article in the wrong place, you must repeat the entire process to fix it. For worlds with dozens or hundreds of articles, this discourages maintenance and leads to messy, "junk drawer" categories that degrade discoverability.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
A Bulk Move interface would allow users to select multiple articles via checkboxes (similar to Gmail or Notion) and move them to a destination folder in a single action. This would:
Eliminate repetitive corrections: Verify your selection batch before committing, removing the anxiety of mis-clicks or mis-drops that currently plague single-article moving.
Reduce errors: A confirmation step for batch moves prevents the "oops, wrong folder" loop that requires hours of correction work.
Support natural workflows: Writers can begin with simple, flat folders and subdivide them into detailed categories as the project grows, rather than delaying maintenance because moving articles one-by-one is prohibitively tedious.
What are other uses for this feature request?
Template deployment: Bulk-select placeholder articles and move them from a "Templates" folder into active story folders once populated.
Collaborative cleanup: Editors can sanitise categorisation after content merges without needing to open and edit individual article content.
Future-proofing: The checkbox infrastructure could later support bulk tagging, privacy setting changes, or mass deletion, turning the article list into a proper curation tool.
Implementation note: A checkbox-column interface with a floating action bar for "Move," "Tag," and "Delete" keeps this lightweight without redesigning the individual article editor, respecting the current UI while adding power-user functionality.
And as a reward for making it to the end of this suggestion...

Here are pictures of my cat, waiting patiently for me to come to bed or play.... whilst I am still trapped here, moving articles one by one. Send help
(and checkboxes).
The Team's Response
Thanks for the suggestion! Mass edit for articles in the way you describe (or similar enough) is planned. It will work similarly to the mass edit feature that already exists for images (see
https://www.worldanvil.com/learn/images/mass-edit-image for details).
