What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

In the template for vehicles, we have the option to set a decommission date for our vehicle. I believe that we are missing the option to also set a commission date for the vehicle in question. There is the option to set a creation date, but depending on the vehicle, the creation date and commission date are different. For example, a ship might be created/laid down on one date but will then be commissioned years later.  

How does this feature request address the current situation?

It would add the opportunity to set a commission date for vehicles. It would also make that part of the template make more sense. Why have a decommission date when we don't have a commission date?    

What are other uses for this feature request?

Other than giving the option to set a commission date for our vehicles, I don't think it would give many other uses.
