Light mode in editor (black text on white background)

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

I have the site in light mode because I have a very difficult time reading white text on black background. However, the editor only allowed for the white text on black background regardless of site wide user settings. I would like for the user's chosen light/dark/gray mode to also be reflected in the text editor.    I know a similar request was submitted before but did not get enough notes before being closed. Appologies for the double tap, but I cannot read the editor and thus cannot use the site.

What are other uses for this feature request?

It would make the site look better to not have clashing boxes of black on the light/gray modes.    It would allow for easier viewing if someone is working on a laptop say outside or in differently lit enviroments.    Black text on white background is the norm for most all text (books other websites etc).

The Team's Response

Thanks for the suggestion! Light mode will be re-implemented, but we need to sort out the interface itself first. In the meantime, the UserWay accessibility widget we use has an option to invert colors, which essentially creates a light mode for World Anvil.

This is badly needed IMO, especially for users with vision problems like myself. White text on black backgrounds is EXTREMELY blurry to me, and very hard to read, making maintaining my articles VERY difficult to do without using external programs such as writing it in a google doc first and pasting the contents.

This took a great deal of getting used to for me when I first started using World Anvil. I'm used to it now, but if we could change it, I probably would still do that.

I would love this! I am a staunch dark-mode-user in almost all cases, but for writing, especially in different lighting conditions, I vastly prefer light mode.

There are some drop down field (events, timelines I think? - depending on style?) Where you have pale grey text on a white or black background. That's just basically a style error.

I personally don't have the issue the poster have, but it would be great to have a toggle to pick between back-on-white or white-on-black for the sake of accessibility.

I don't use light mode, but I find it weird this wasn't already a feature to begin with.
