So long Spooktober but hello Novelember and WorldEmber Prep! With Novelember, 50K of prose is a lot. But, it can be done! Still, it takes some dedicated time and energy to do that. Then again, so does WorldEmber! Thinking of trying one or the other? Tackling both isn't out of the question but, hm, that might be really tough! Either way, it's a lot of writing! So, Spooktober is in full swing! Have you given it a try? I've seen a lot of worldbuilding show up, and it's just too fun! Some are large articles, but others are small. Some is worldbuilding, but others are short stories. Which brings up the point, there really is no wrong way to celebrate Spooktober. Not really. It's great fun and a good way to stretch the imagination. So go give it a try!

Summer Camp is almost here! Sort of. How is everyone? Summer Camp homework shaping up? Prep looks like it's coming along nicely. So, have you figured out how you're going to tackle summer camp? That's important, too! Not just maps, or what world, but the 'how'. Will you take it at an even pace? Or savagely attack each prompt, sparing none of them? Somewhere in between works , too! At least for me, pacing for Summer Camp means a lot. For me? I tend to go "Chill". Take my time. Quality over quantity as the saying goes. But it's an important personal choice!

What I'm Reading! Issue 228

How is March treating you? Good? I hope you're making progress on your projects! Oh, tried out any unofficial challenges? Which one? As for me, I'm just moving forward on my own projects, but I'm keeping an eye on any challenges coming in April and on. Besides, Summer Camp is on the horizon!

This time I found myself reading a lot o Natural Law worldbuilding. That's fun stuff. The backbone of settings, how they connect and interact. Could be laws of magic, where superpowers originated from, but it could be something deeper that connects cultures. I think that's why I like reading them, you never know what you'll find!

Ah here we go with September! Ready for fall? It sure seemed like this year ( and this summer ) has flown by! If anyone invents a time travel machine, sign me up! But still, how are you projects going? Summer Camp and Summer Camp reading go well? I thought this Summer Camp was a fun rush. Even if you didn't make the goal you set, just remember, each bit of worldbuilding you wrote is one more than you had before! Progress!

 
Now to look ahead. Make the to do lists and charge on. Projects don't write themselves! Also, don't forget that Spooktober is right around the corner. That is a fun, relaxing challenge to stretch the imagination. What will your September hold for you?

What I'm Reading! Issue 199

Hey, Everybody! Here we go with Issue 199!

 
So, the big question, how's the Reading Challenge coming? There is a ton of entries. How did you approach it? Was it by picking one prompt? A few? I've seen reading challenge lists that seem to tackle this in all sorts of ways. Some pick a few at random prompts in a row to dig into, while others moved in order though the prompts to read. No matter how you go after it, there is no way to lose. There is just so much to read that is downright fun!

 
I tend to pick two prompts from each wave, then read through those lists. When I'm done, I do it again, picking two more prompts from each wave. Still that leaves me so much to read!

 
Speaking of which, it looks like next time will be the 200th issue of "What I'm Reading". How about that? Never thought I'd reach 200! So, given that, I thought I'd ask... what would YOU be interested in hearing about? If no one has any suggestions, I'll do what I normally do. Let me know in the comments!

Whats up next? Well, Aran'sha is going places. I have gotten so many ideas trough summercamp, I hardly know where to start. New CSS ideas, Layouts, templates. As for content, expect to hear more about the - Children of the plains out west, the kaharan people, the pantheon... and I still have to do all the things from my pledge! In a slightly unrelated note - my challenge is coming along nicely, I'm already pondering badges - so expect that to be a thing soon!

Happy mid-ish July! How's your Summer Camp going? Made it to your goals of Copper, Silver or Diamond? Devoured the prompts? ( looking at you Camp Feral ) No matter your goal, I hope you're having fun with each piece you write. At least for me, that's te best part, getting into the flow and the world. Drawing out that unique vision, with all the special twists and turns.

 
This time, I'll keep this short. I've got a fun selection from the prompts. Have to admit, I spent way too long the "Myth of Food". I just LOVED that one! But myths are just too much fun to create anyway.

Caturday Reads #10

Happy Caturday!
  Since I've had a fairly good day today, and certainly a much better day compared to last Saturday, I got my reading done early. There was even more new authors and worlds I didn't recognize which was really exciting. :)
  And the reading helped making me feel inspired to write again so, after taking my daily walk, maybe I'll get a prompt or two done myself. I've had no problem coming up with fitting ideas for several prompts but in the past weeks felt too drained to get much of anything done without forcing it.

Caturday Reads #8

Happy Caturday!   So, first week of Summer Camp has come and gone, and people have been prolific writers as expected. Myself been taking it slow, with just one copper wave prompt out and another one still in the works.   What do you think about the newly released silver prompts? How did you like the copper wave ones? Silver wave didn't hit quite hit home with me right away the same way the copper ones did, but maybe I'll warm up to them once I've mulled over them for a bit.   I did do a lot of reading, though. As has been a personal custom for me every Summer Camp, I've gone through all prompts released so far, sped read the ones that matched my criterias* and caught my interest, and saved the ones I liked a lot in my reading list for later.   And I though: Maybe I should incorporate this in my reading journal series? Well...

There are the Spooky campers, Worldwalkers who walk more than one of their worlds for Summer Camp, and the list goes on! Me? I'm a Worldwalker and Camp Chill myself.

Happy Caturday! And happy Midsummer if you celebrate that!
  The weekly reading remains a bit of a challenge to keep up with as I try to juggle IRL commitments, self-care, caring for my older cat who's well... starting to get noticeably old with everything that comes with it, and getting stuff done for Rosepetal. Plus, Summer Camp is approaching fast.

I have, and every time I do, I find something new to enjoy. A magical item, place, piece of lore that is pure worldbuilding gold.

How's your April going? Are you giving Adventure April a try? I'll say plots can be difficult to get balanced right. But! I've run so many plots with rough edges that turned out fantastic. Really, it's all about the fun, right? It's worth giving it a try.

 
This time I've got here are some really nice articles that could be wonderful inspiration for an advenure setting, or a challenge, or a plot twist! Gotta love those plot twists, right? With these, there are some really inspired ideas that have some serious depth. They gave me all sorts of ideas for plots when I read through them! What do you think?
