Elinor
Elinor had poured over countless data chips from the Lord of Bloom’s personal archives during the short trip from Bloom to Grimsly. She couldn’t find anything of use, not that she thought she would, or knew what she was looking for.
Lord Weylin had given them recent fleet movements, and attacks from raiders and pirates in the system, but there was nothing there but random attacks. Most attacks occurred well outside the Bloom Sector and into the Nord Void, and both Commonwealth Forces, Lord Weylin’s own forces, and other lords had done little to stop them.
Elinor couldn’t blame them. The Nord Void was outside the Commonwealth of Drala. The Nord Void was an large expanse of space filled with little to no settled worlds, at least nothing with more than a few dozen people. None of the star nations that surrounded it had the power to claim it, settle it, or project power in it, and it was a natural rift between Drala and Furse Space.
The longest part of the Nord Void was over two thousand years, between the border of Holderness and Bloom, and the Kingdom of Fist in Furse Space. It was at least twice that long, and even then Orkane only covered a small a small five hundred by five hundred light year distance, and beyond that there was only wild unsettled space, and most of that unsettled.
Lord Bloom had granted Crown Prince Osmund access to his person estates on Grimsly, and he had agreed with the prince that a Commonwealth Base of Operations on Grimsly would be an asset, much to her surprise. There was nothing that hinted at disloyalty from the lord, but would there have been? The Prince had told her they weren’t looking into it, maybe it was an innocent assignment, and he really just wanted to know how better to aid the other sectors by taking the lead of Bloom.
Lord Bloom had also granted the Crown Prince several sections of land on Grimsly from which he establish a base on the world. Already shuttles were traveling to and from the world, and other starships from Task Force Alpha had arrived in system.
If Lord Weylin was a traitor, he was granting the Crown Prince easy access, and with his brother, he was in the prefect position, but what did Elinor expect. Sure Lord Bloom could refuse the Crown Prince, but what would that get him, and what was he likely to find in any regard, he would have had to have been a fool to have evidence in the open.
There was one curious thing that Elinor kept finding in the files though. The Fabian Order of Drala. It was a myth and legend that most people knew of, and it didn’t ring out any alarms to her, but it was curious that there were mentions of it in recent years. Nothing that made sense, mentions of it in notes about events in both Bloom and Holderness.
Elinor twisted her mouth. She didn’t know what any of it meant, but she would note it for the Crown Prince.
