Blair
Blair’s handmaiden Flower Redwyne giggled as they make themselves at home on the on the ‘Royal Dragon’ as the fleet prepared to leave the Marhold System.
“And what is so funny?” Blair asked.
“It would seem that Flower found herself a lover,” Ansel said with a lopsided grin.
“Oh really?” Blair asked again. She had been too busy with the king on Marhold to pay much attention to her three handmaidens.
“Ser Knoll, Lord Commander of the King’s Guard,” Flower said with a blush.
“What?” Blair asked again. “You bedded a member of the King’s Guard, and the Lord Commander herself?”
“Bed? Ha,” Flower said. “I don’t know if we ever saw a bed, but we did make love.” Flower said with another giggle. “She is strong yet tender, and young for one to hold such a rank.”
Blair nodded. She hadn’t spoken much to the Lord Commander, a few times here and there, but the fourty something year old woman was young for her age, and the anti aging cream worked wonders on her.
“Not ser Peak,” Yordana Lynwood cut in. “He is rugged, and rough, and at least as old as the King if not older,” she said with a laugh.
“You too?” Blair asked.
“You said to get information, what better place to find it than the royal guards of the king,” Yordana said with a laughing. “And it was worth it, I like them strong and rough.”
“What about you?” Blair asked Ansel.
“I didn’t part any legs or my cheeks if that is what you mean,” Ansel told Blair. “But I did get information.”
“Information? What?” Blair asked.
“I don’t know,” Ansel replied with a shrug. “It’s not clear yet, just there is something, something big, and something no one wants anyone to know.”
Blair let out a laugh. “It’s the royal court of oe of the richest realms in Fabian Space. Of course there are secrets, and likely secrets on secrets, but if you don’t know, it’s not really information is it?” she asked Ansel.
“No,” Ansel replied. “I guess not.”
“Let me know when you learn more,” Blair said with a gentle smile. She had asked her handmaidens to keep their ears open. They were all she could truly trust. Her only friends, and companions since childhood, and no doubt any friend she now made would be in the employ of someone else to spy on her to gain access to the king.
“You have yet to tell us how the king is, as a lover,” Flower asked. “You have been rather busy since the wedding.”
Blair smiled. It was true, she had been by the King’s side since the wedding, even after their arrival on Marhold. “I had feared that someone the age of my brother would lack in that department,” she admitted to her handmaidens. “But the king has proven otherwise, and I have no complaints,” she said firmly.
“Come on, you can’t leave it at that,” Yordana said. “We tell you everything.”
Blair just smiled. “Of course I can,” she told them, and stood to leave. “I’m the queen. There is very little I can’t do now,” she said with a grin.
